Earlier this week, McDonalds workers went on strike over the lunch period at a number of Florida restaurants in St. Petersburg, Tampa and Orlando to protest for worker safety at QSR establishments. The action was taken after a January video showing a customer attacking a counter employee at a St. Petersburg restaurant went viral. And, that video battle may not be the only one this year involving McDonald’s. The newly formed franchisee association, the National Owners Association (NOA), this week sent out an email letter to all franchisees in the system encouraging them to stop all commitments to new remodels until such time as the company addresses a host of concerns within the franchise owner community, such as eroding profits, control of menu pricing, and costs associated with the remodels among other issues.
