naacp-logoWe took note of some important news coming out of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) National Convention, held this week in Las Vegas.  On Wednesday, Dunkin’ Brands and the NAACP jointly announced a partnership to increase African-American participation in the franchise industry and to provide people of color with more business opportunities.  Known as the Diversity in Franchising Initiative, the program will provide franchising education, training and networking opportunities as well as help facilitate access to capital for qualified candidates.  Ironically, at that same NAACP convention, and even on the very same day, the delegates unanimously adopted a resolution (part of which is available here) endorsing the ongoing effort to increase the minimum wage, especially for fast food workers, to $15/hour!
