Early this week, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) released a new version of the I-9 Form, Employment Eligibility Verification. The new form incorporates the 5 specific changes to the form, each of which is detailed on the USCIS website. The new form was effective and available for use immediately upon its July 17 release however, employers may continue using the old I-9 form (with a revision date of 11/14/16) until September 18, 2017 at which point use of the new form will be mandatory. USCIS has also produced a new Handbook For Employers: Guidance For Completing Form I-9, which can be downloaded in whole or in part.
