Joshua Clark reports at Seacoastonline.com that Route 108 has a new destination for drivers looking for that much needed caffeine jolt — Dunkin’ Donuts.
Store owner Antonio Salema and his team were welcomed to town on Tuesday, Aug. 4, by town officials and residents eager to show their appreciation and optimism for the new business venture.
“On behalf of the residents of Newfields, and those of us who need our twice a day Dunkin’ fix, I would like to welcome you and to thank you for choosing Newfields,” said Selectwoman Rosanne Gilbert. “I wish you the very best for your beautiful new store.”
The store is the first of four buildings in the Winkler Commerce Center located near the cemetery.
The new 13-acre, four-lot subdivision by Long Bow Realty has its own access road from Route 108, Winkler Way.
Site developer David Garvey said the presence of such a “first-class operation” will help to draw in other businesses to the area and provide a boost to the local economy.
Salema said the store, which opened its doors on May 22, has been met with excitement and a steady stream of customers since its first day.
“We’ve received a lot of ‘thank yous’ for opening a store in Newfields,” said Salema. “The people here seem to love it, and we love the people.”
Gilbert said the store will provide residents with close, convenient employment opportunities, which will prove especially helpful to local teens during their summer job hunts.
“Instead of having to look outside of town for a summer job, they now have something that is close and convenient,” she said.
Selectman Michael Woodworth said the store will help mitigate the tax burden of the residents.
