While they have continuously fought fair franchising legislation in a host of states, the International Franchise Association was reported this week to have adopted a new plan to strengthen the franchise relationship. Two of the 7 recommendations that constitute the plan speak to improving and enhancing education of prospective and existing franchisees. It also speaks to communication, research and the IFA code of ethics. No mention of good faith or fair dealing however. Speaking of the IFA, they elected new directors at their board meeting in DC last week. Joining the IFA Board beginning in February will be Carl’s Jr & Hardee’s CEO Andrew F. Puzder and Peter D. Holt, president and CEO of Tasti D-Lite, along with Guillermo Perales, president and CEO of Sun Holding LLC, operators of 400 restaurants in Texas & Florida.
