On the subject of tax obligations, those New Jersey taxpayers who may not have met all legal obligations regarding their state tax liabilities from February 2009 through August 2017 still have a few days to make amends – the New Jersey Tax Amnesty program will expire next Tuesday, January 15, 2019! The program, which began on November 15 of last year, allows Garden State taxpayers to wipe their slate clean by electronically filing all delinquent tax returns and making full payment for amnesty eligible taxes as well as one-half of the interest due with the state waiving the other half of the interest along with any financial penalties for late payment. As an added incentive, delinquent taxpayers who are eligible for amnesty but choose not to avail themselves of the program will be assessed an additional 5% penalty on the outstanding tax obligations! Pay them now, or pay them dearly later!
