In a surprise to absolutely nobody on the union front, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) last week rejected the unfair labor practice complaint that Starbucks had filed against the Starbuck Workers United union. The complaint, one of only two that the company has filed against the union, stems from an unsuccessful effort to unionize a Starbucks store in Phoenix, Arizona, where the union was accused of threatening both Starbucks employees and customers to support the union efforts. By contrast, the union has over 250 unfair labor practice complaint lodged against the company with the NLRB, several of which have already been decided against the company. Starbucks can and most likely will appeal the NLRB decision to the courts. More to come on this issue as well. . .
