Congress recessed last week without taking a vote on the nomination of Trump Labor Secretary-nominee Alex Acosta, so we are still without a Secretary of Labor. The latest projections are that a confirmation vote on the Acosta nomination will not happen before the last week of April. In the interim, the Department of Labor has put out the call that it is interested in suggestions for “improving the government”. The call comes after Trump administration issued a guidance this week directing agencies to begin making personnel and other cuts over the next year in order to reorganize the federal bureaucracy and reduce wasteful or duplicative functions. Let’s hope that means reducing the size of government as well! Anyway, suggestions on improving the government should be submitted online by June 12, 2017.
