An important deadline arrives next week for those employers in Massachusetts covered by the state’s Paid Family Leave Law. The state’s new Department of Family and Medical Leave (DFML) requires that employers provide updated contact information on their company’s ‘leave administrator’ by next Wednesday, October 14. Payroll deductions to fund the benefit were to have begun last week on October 1 and employees can begin to access the Family and Medical Leave benefit beginning on January 1, 2021. In order to submit the information, the employer will need the unique verification code that was sent out several weeks ago. More information on the Massachusetts Paid Family Leave Law can be found here in the DFML Employer Toolkit on the department’s website. The law also requires that an informational poster, produced by the department be displayed in a prominent place for all employees to be made aware of their rights under the law. You can download the poster here.
