Those of us who follow politics more closely may remember that within just 10 months of assuming office as the US President, Barack Obama was awarded the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize for uh . . . um . . . well, anyway he got it. Now, within 6 weeks of his successor assuming the Presidency, it was announced by the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation that the former President has been selected as the 2017 recipient of the Profile in Courage Award and will be presented with it in Boston in May. It is unclear whether the “cash for clunkers” program, doubling the national debt, or “leading from behind” put Obama over the top in the selection process!
