The federal Office of Management & Budget (OMB) has approved a revised Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification and it now is incumbent upon the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to publish a revised form with instructions by November 22, 2016.  In the meantime, employers should continue using the current version of the Form I-9 (with a revision date of March 8, 2013), notwithstanding that the form has an expiration date of March 31, 2016.  The current form may continue to be used until January 21, 2017.  After that date, only the new revised version, which will have an expiration date of August 31, 2019, will be acceptable and all previous versions of Form I-9 will be invalid.
