Apparently President Trump is not the only elected official itching to open the economy back up as quickly as possible. The Pennsylvania legislature passed legislation this week that would override Governor Tom Wolf’s current stay-at-home order and require the state to align with federal guidelines on which businesses will be allowed to reopen during the pandemic so long as they can safely operate with mitigation strategies in accordance with CDC Guidelines. Senate Bill 613 passed the senate on Wednesday by a vote of 29-21 after previously having passed the House by a 107-95 margin, but Governor Wolf has indicated he will veto the legislation. It does not appear that proponents have enough votes to override the governor’ veto, so the stay at home will likely stay in place.
