A few weeks back, we advised you about Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney’s initiative to place a $.03 cent per ounce tax on sugary drinks.  This week, he introduced his pro-soda tax coalition, which he called “Philadelphians for a Fair Future”.  I’m not quite sure if there’s a logical nexus between sugary drinks and “fairness”, but they tried to take the high road at the Mayor’s press conference, promising to release their list of donors.  There’s more to the story when you consider the timeframes involved in campaign reporting requirements in the City of Brotherly Love.  By the way, the Atlanta Business Journal reported that soda drink consumption in 2015 was at the lowest level since 1985 – and all without imposing an additional tax to drive up costs on the consumer!
