The $28.6 billion Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF) was actually authorized by Congress back in the early part of last month. Despite the fact that the program was signed into by President Biden on March 11, it still is making very slow progress in coming to fruition. The agency succeeded in getting the RRF website launched this past week, but the portal is not yet accepting applications – and it is not quite yet known when that final step will be ready.  That said, when it does launch, applications will be accepted from all eligible applicants however, during the first 21 days of the program, funds will be distributed only for approved applications from eligible small businesses owned by women, veterans or socially and economically disadvantaged individuals. Beginning on Day 22, funds will be distributed to all eligible applicants so long as funds remain available. To streamline the process, the SBA has posted a sample application and RRF program guide on its website and advises eligible businesses to use both documents to get the necessary documents ready so as to be better prepared for the application process.
