Aleasha Sandley of the Herald Bulletin reports that one of two Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants opened in the last year closed its doors for the last time Saturday.
The 4431 S. Scatterfield Road location of the eatery will no longer serve customers, while the manager of the city’s second Dunkin’ Donuts location said that restaurant is doing well.
Both Anderson Dunkin’ Donuts locations are owned by franchisee HSG Restaurant Group. The group decided to focus more on its other eight locations throughout central Indiana, said spokeswoman Carrie Reckert on behalf of Vicky DeSalvo, field marketing manager for central Indiana for Dunkin’ Brands, the restaurant’s parent company.
“This was a mutual business decision between the franchisee and Dunkin’ Donuts to consolidate and concentrate efforts on HSG’s other locations,” Reckert said.
All staff members of the Scatterfield Road Dunkin’ Donuts will be relocated to the restaurant at Jackson and 14th streets.
Other Dunkin’ Donuts owned by HSG are in Indianapolis, Kokomo, Bloomington and Greenfield.
The Scatterfield Road store had been open since December, occupying the corner of a newly built retail complex. The downtown restaurant opened in November.
Leisa Swider, manager of the downtown Dunkin’ Donuts, said that store was not in danger of closing.
“We’re doing good,” she said. “We’re trying to build sales and get the people to keep coming in here so we can stay open.”
