One of the regular newsletters we read for additional information to include in Small Regular, No Sugar! sadly added a regular feature on sexual harassment a few months back when the most salacious stories broke. Since that time, sexual harassment allegations have become news mainstays and have brought down countless politicians across the country, an array of top business executives, giants in journalism, and a host of others. This week reports that a top Ford Motor Company executive was fired; the president of the Disney Theatrical Group is under investigation for numerous allegations; former NPR news executive was fired for his behavior toward women; and the CEO of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is under investigation. There is seemingly no end to the parade of allegations and charges that could hit any business – and any business owner – for their actions or those of their employees. Unfortunately, it is a subject with which responsible business owners must familiarize themselves in order to ensure they handle any and all allegations against any employees correctly.
