The goupstate.com website reports the Dunkin’ Donuts store at 159 S. Pine St. in the Club Forest shopping center has apparently closed.
Bart Thorne, president and CEO for Greer-based Kainos Partners LLC, the franchise company that opened the store in April 2008, could not be reached for comment Thursday.
The 4,000-square-foot store featured a drive-through and operated as a hub for Dunkin’ Donuts’ regional operations.
It was the company’s first store in Spartanburg since it left the market in 1999, when it shuttered its west-side restaurant in the Market Square shopping center.
Kainos filed for Chapter 11 protection in July because of “rising operational costs” and diminished sales, according to court documents filed in bankruptcy court in Wilmington, Del.
Late last year, the company shuttered its Boiling Springs store at 2634 Highway 9 and an east-side store at 1996 E. Main St.
