Late yesterday, Starbucks announced that CEO Howard Schultz will step down as CEO next April to assume the role of Executive Chairman.  He will be replaced by current President & Chief Operating Officer Kevin Johnson.  Schultz has been the company’s CEO most recently since 2008, although he previously served as CEO from 1987 until 2000 when he first left the company.  He joined Starbucks back in 1982 as a director of operations, when they only had 4 stores. Today, they claim 25,000 stores in 75 countries.  After they made the announcement, the company’s stock had dropped as much as 3% in after-hours trading.
