We all know how the economy has tanked over the past week or so as a result of the coronavirus, but according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), it was still going gangbusters through February. The BLS reported the addition of 273,000 new non-farm jobs in February with the unemployment rate remaining steady at 3.5 percent. Furthermore, the leisure and hospitality industry accounted for 51,000 of those jobs created during the month despite the global coronavirus threat. Through last month, L.E.K. Consulting reported that 56% of restaurant operators believed the industry would experience growth over the next three years. What a difference a few weeks can make!
