Karl Greenberg writes in MediaPost that despite fears that “you don’t want to be the brand that gets dragged through the mud in social media or simply doesn’t get it,” Dunkin’ Donuts put its executive chef online for a live chat with people about its “DDSmart” line last January and brought in 55 fans and 150-plus comments. “That doesn’t seem huge, but when you think of the type of quality interactions these people had, it spreads a lot further than that,” Ben Smith, interactive marketing manager at Dunkin’ Donuts, told a roomful of attendees Thursday at “Fast Forward 2011,” the Promotion Marketing Association’s second annual Digital Marketing Summit held at Google’s New York offices.

Dunkin’ is named interactive marketer of the year

The Boston Globe reports that Dunkin’ Donuts was named the “interactive marketer of the year” at last night’s 14th annual awards competition sponsored by the Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange, or MITX. A microsite created by Sapient to support Coca-Cola’s Happiness campaign was cited as best of show, and Mullen of Boston got the “people’s choice for interactive agency of the year,” MITX said.

Dunkin Donuts Returns To Chattanooga

Chattanooga.com reports that Dunkin Donuts is back at its location across from Northgate Mall on Highway 153 with a wide pastry assortment and coffee selection. The grand opening and ribbon cutting at the Hixson location will be Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. and the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce will make arrangements for the event. The new 1,800 square foot Dunkin Donuts at 5311 Highway 153 will have a drive-through window and will serve its famous coffee, all-day sandwiches, doughnuts and other baked goods.

National Aquarium in Baltimore, Dunkin Donuts partner on promotion

Rachel Bernstein reports in the Baltimore Business Journal that the National Aquarium in Baltimore and Dunkin’ Donuts have launched a campaign to give customers extra jelly filling. The campaign, called “One Sweet Deal,” gives Dunkin’ Donuts customers a $5 off admission to the aquarium’s jellyfish exhibit. The coupons can be picked up at the more than 100 Dunkin’ Donut locations in Greater Baltimore.
