When Andy Puzder was the Labor Secretary nominee, his confirmation hearing was scheduled, postponed and rescheduled no fewer than 5 times before he withdrew from consideration on February 15 – without a hearing ever taking place!. With current nominee Alex Acosta, confirmed for other posts by the Senate on 3 different occasions, most believed it would happen quickly and without issue. But alas, his March 15 hearing before the Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pensions Committee (HELP) was postponed to March 22 due to a conflict that came up with Chairman Lamar Alexander’s schedule – President Trump was visiting the Senator’s home district, Nashville and he wanted to be there. Next week, for sure!
