Just days after Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker signed the new Wisconsin new Right to Work legislation into law, organized labor expressed their strong disapproval by filing suit challenging the new law as an unconstitutional transfer of property in that unions would still be required under federal law to provide services to employees who choose not to pay dues to the union. The suit, filed by the Wisconsin AFL-CIO along with the International Association of Machinists District 10 and the United Steelworkers District 2, asks first for a temporary restraining order against the law’s implementation and then that a permanent injunction against the law be issued.
