Three Northern California district attorneys have reached a $225,000 settlement with Starbucks over the company’s alleged failure to refund gift card balances to customers.
Shasta County District Attorney Jerry Benito, who joined district attorneys in Monterey and Sonoma counties in the case, announced the settlement Monday.
Prosecutors say some California Starbucks’ stores were not providing cash refunds on gift card balances under $10, violating a 2008 state law.
Without admitting any wrongdoing, prosecutors say Starbucks agreed to additional employee training and other changes.
