Just last week, we advised of a concerted effort by first daughter and senior presidential advisor Ivanka Trump to win approval of a national paid leave policy offering up to six weeks of paid leave for all employees in the nation. The Trump proposal, which would be paid for with state unemployment insurance funds, “doesn’t go far enough”, according to a letter signed by over 100 democratic members of Congress. In the letter, which was written by Connecticut Congresswomen Rosa DeLauro, the democrats challenge the administration to offer 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave and make it “sustainable, affordable, and inclusive.”
