As much as we believe this type of government intrusion into business operations is detrimental to business growth and economic development, you violate them at significant risk.  We noted a story last week of a settlement facilitated by a California Labor Commissioner where the employer agreed to a $4 million settlement with employees for paying the state minimum wage of $8/hour, but not San Francisco’s minimum of $10.74; misdirecting $1 million in tips and not paying employees for all the hours they worked.
