We may not often hear of legislative activities coming out of the state of Wyoming, but the home of Old Faithful this month enacted legislation that allows for a private employer to grant hiring preferences for veterans and the spouses of disable or deceased veterans.  The law provides that the granting of a preference based on veteran status shall not be considered discriminatory or in any way, an unfair employment practice under state law so long as consideration of same is not driven by an otherwise illegal or discriminatory employment characteristic.  The Veteran Preference law becomes effective July 1.
